Malvertising, or hackers using online ads for malicious purposes, is on the rise.
The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered an FIR against a Chandigarh-based racket led by Riya Sonkar for trafficking Indians to Myanmar under false job offers. Victims were forced into cyber-crime syndicates and faced severe punishments if they refused. The CBI is actively working to dismantle the operation and rescue those still trapped.
The Cybercrime police in Warangal have arrested two persons from Tamil Nadu, allegedly involved in a online investment fraud, duping victims across the country of crores of rupees.
Sources said the man had reportedly received a proposal for investment through WhatsApp on July 1 and within 10 days, he had invested ₹ 4 crore, lured by the impressive profits projected by the scammers.
